Non-negotiable

This is an excerpt from the book called 'Food, Fitness, and Faith for Women', since I am participating in the 5 week challenge from Courtney, I found this very fitting for my situation right now.  The week 3 challenge dealt with reading your Bible every day for at least a minute first thing.  Before any facebook, tv, book, etc.  This week, the challenge dealt with clearing out mind clutter and things that take away from your walk with God.

Life is a glorious gift from God.  Treat it that way.  This day, like every other, is filled to the brim with opportunities, challenges, and choices.  But, no choice that you make is more important than the choice you make concerning God.  Today, you will either place Him at the center of your life--or not--and the consequences of that choice have implications that are both temporal and eternal.

Sometimes, we don't intentionally neglect God; we simply allow ourselves to become overwhelmed with the demands of everyday life.  And then, without our even realizing it, we gradually drift away from the One we need most.  Thankfully, God never drifts away from us.  He remains always present, always steadfast, always loving.  (emphasis mine)

As you begin this day, place God and His Son where they belong:  in your head, in your prayers, on your lips, and in your heart.  And then, with God as your guide and companion, let the journey begin......

How important is this to be vigilant at keeping God at the forefront of our minds?  How easy is it to lose sight of Him because we are in the trenches of life?  Never-ending laundry, dishes, schooling, diapers, sick babies, correction and training, etc.............You put it off for an hour which turns into a half of a day which turns into a whole day which turns into a week......on and on and on........

Some things in life just need to be non-negotiable......this is one of those things.  Keep in His Word, be on your knees in prayer.  If you get nothing else done today, be vigilant about putting and keeping God number one.........you will be blessed because of it.

I am always thinking of the Lord; and because He is so near, I never need to stumble or to fall.
~ Psalms 16:8
